Coaching for writers
Have you ever sat down, started typing, and then felt stuck?
Or maybe you wrote half a novel once upon a time. But now it's in a drawer somewhere, and just thinking about it makes your stomach churn?
Alternatively, maybe you're raring to go, but you're not sure where to start ...
If you're at the planning, drafting, or revising stage and in need of guidance, motivation, or a confidence boost, then you're in the right place!
My coaching plan will change your perspective on writing by offering you clarity on a writing problem.
You may feel invigorated and energised, approach your writing projects with renewed clarity, or reassess how to best make use of your precious writing time.
I have a four-week coaching program, but I am also happy to discuss a more personalised approach if you need it.
The four-week program starts at the beginning of a calendar month and the next openings are for:
-
April
-
September
Who is coaching for?
My coaching service is for authors of fiction, creative non-fiction, and the narrative social sciences.
I can best help authors with whom I can also share my developmental editing expertise, and so I work most often with authors in the following fields:
-
Science fiction
-
Fantasy fiction
-
LGBTQ+ fiction
-
Literary fiction
-
Memoir
-
Ethnography
Am I ready for coaching?
I work with:
-
New authors with an unfinished manuscipt in need of guidance
-
More experienced authors who feel stuck and want to reinvigorate their wrting practice
-
Authors who want to take their writing up a level and discuss their craft
-
Authors who want to better understand their feelings around writing
I do not offer writing coaching to authors who:
-
Have a clear plan and direction with their writing, and who are successfully working toward it without the need for guidance
-
Just need a developmental or line edit
My aim is to leave you feeling well-supported with a clear plan of what to do next. The program costs £325 and you can book it here:
What does the program include?
The program is four weeks long and is based around four coaching sessions with me. Here's what you will receive:
-
4 x 50 min coaching sessions throughout the month
-
A shared Trello board to record and observe goals, insights, milestones, and reflections
-
Critique comments on a writing sample of up to 5,000 words
You will also be able to contact me by email if you ever feel stuck during the months and you can purchase extra feedback or coaching sessions if needed.
What are the steps involved?
Step one
Book the service and let me know when you want to start (you can start at the beginning of the advertised calendar months).
Step two
I will ask you to fill in a form with some questions about your writing and what you hope to achieve in our time working together. I will input this info into a shared Trello board ready for our first coaching session together.
Step three
In our first coaching session we will make a plan for the month, reserve times for all the other coaching sessions, and work on any writing or mindset issues that emerge in our discussion together. The plan will include checklists of small steps you can take to achieve your goal.
Step four
In the final session, we will discuss next steps for your project.
