Are you looking for a manuscript critique or full developmental edit of your book project?

A manuscript critique is an incredibly important step if you're looking to find a literary agent, get feedback on your novel, self-publish, or improve your craft.

Do any of the following apply to you?

  • You write YA or adult fantasy, horror, or science fiction (either commercial or literary)
  • Or: You are writing a novel that thematizes intercultural or LGBTQ+ experiences
  • You read in your genre and can name a few novels similar to yours, published in the last five years
  • You are unable to source the critical feedback you need from your writing support network OR you doubt how reliable such feedback you've received actually is
  • You've already written a novel or some short stories, or you've spent a long time revising a first novel
  • You've taken some courses or received professional feedback on your creative writing
  • You feel you've taken your novel as far as you can and are eager to receive solid feedback on it
  • You appreciate novels from both commercial and artistic perspectives

If most of the above apply to you, then reach out for either a manuscript critique or a developmental edit.

What I offer:
  • Kind, honest, direct, supportive feedback on your novel draft
  • Focused feedback adapted to your publishing goals and your vision for your novel
  • Continued support: We'll have a debrief call where you can ask questions about the editorial feedback you receive, and you can email me anytime with questions during the month after you receive the report
  • Traditional publishing experience: Feedback grounded in a deep knowledge and awareness of the current market, through my experience as a freelance editor for multiple Big 5 imprints in the UK and the USA

Testimonials

"The biggest value I received from Andy was in the way he helped me to deepen my entire story. He showed me where beats or characterizations I took for granted had gaps to a reader, or raised questions I hadn't considered."

—Robert Winter, Queer Romantasy Author

"Working with Andy made my debut novel better, and the results in distribution and reviews prove it."

Nathan Wagner, Speculative Fiction Author

"Andrew's editing was of the highest standard. I learned a lot about the process from him and felt confident my manuscript was in good hands. It was a rewarding experience I hope to repeat soon."
